Military Life and Mommyhood

Being on a new base, it takes a little time to get used to things, much less get comfortable. And just when I was starting to get comfortable, things are being shaken up a bit.

We haven't officially moved to Utah yet; our possessions are in storage in Iowa and Texas, waiting for a moving truck to bring them to us, and we're living out of suitcases in temporary housing on base until we get into either a place in town or base housing. Temp housing is only supposed to be for 30 days, and since our time is up on Friday (and all the rooms are booked), we're having to find a hotel in town to stay at for 2-8 nights until there is a place for us in temp housing again. Ah, the joys of packing up everything you have and trying to fit it all in a small car, along with caring for a ten-week-old who has been increasingly fussy lately. My stress level is about to max out, and I have a couple more days of this. Yay.

I just keep telling myself that it won't be long until we're settled. We're just waiting for a couple of things to fall into place, and we'll be able to unpack and get comfortable somewhere (base housing, please!). However, predicting how long it will be until then is becoming increasingly difficult and foreboding. So, I bide my time, praying for the strength to make it - and for Little Man's cooperation.
