Pit Stop

After a two-week visit with Husby's family in Iowa, we've now returned 'home' to Texas. One 16-hour drive and three very tired people later, we're glad the trip is over. The visit was enjoyed, but the drive was longer than we would have liked. To break things up a bit [and give ourselves the chance to stretch our legs], we took a quick side-trip to the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri [about half-way through the drive].

They had a small playground at the Welcome Center,
with fanciful characters to keep you entertained.

The gardens were lined with angels, trumpeting your arrival.
My boys took a moment to pause for a photo.
The main wall, at the back of the chapel,
is home to the final painting, finished in 2009.
There were so many details to take in;
lovingly painted scenes,
beautifully simple stained glass windows,
and so much more I didn't photograph.

Little Man was a trooper throughout the trip - for about the first 14 hours, that is. After that, he was done with his car seat, and wasn't shy about letting us know. With a little coaxing, he closed his eyes and made it the rest of the way. We're all glad to be 'home' now, settling back in at Grandma & Grandpa's for the time being, and waiting on our next adventure.

  1. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos! I've always wondered what this chapel looked like, but have not had the opportunity to go there. So pretty!
