At 5 o'clock this morning, Husby and I packed up our Little Man and headed out the door for a quick visit up north. With Grandpa along for the first part of the trip, we lugged our suitcases and carry-ons to the airport, and set out for a flight to CID. On the way to our gate, we passed by the USO, and since we had a little time to spare, we peaked in for a visit. Never have we felt more welcome in a new place. The volunteers at the DFW branch deserve a standing ovation - thank you for your warm hospitality [and free breakfast!].
On board our flight, we settled in for the 100ish minutes of recycled air. Little Man, having flown twice before already, settled in for a long nap in my arms. And sleep he did, until his ears wouldn't pop on decent; poor baby let the whole plane know he was unhappy. Luckily, I've recently discovered that Jesus Loves Me quiets him right down, so our fellow passengers were graced with my [lovely?] singing voice to calm his tears.
Spending mere minutes in Cedar Rapids, we quickly packed into our rental car and headed to Madison for a [very] short visit with my paternal grandparents. Being the first [and, so far, the only] great-grandchild, Little Man is adored by all - especially his DGAP [Doctor Great-Aunt P], who met him today for the first time.
After 9 hours of travel, we're all ready to settle in for the night. And we better sleep while we can - we're headed back to Cedar Rapids tomorrow before noon!
