We've known for a while now that my paternal grandfather's health was fading, but until today I was unaware of just how far things had gotten. It appears that Great-Grandpa is in Stage 3 Kidney Failure - of which, I'm told, there are only 5 stages. Being that he is unable to care for himself alone, and Great-Grammy isn't able to lend much of a hand, the decision has been made to move him into Assisted Living. This is a move that's been months in the making, and we were all ready for it to happen, but on our own terms, not dictated by an urgent need. The news comes as a bit of a start to us, but we know that he will be well cared for and comfortable in the place he is choosing to be.
